PHARMACY TECHNICIAN REGISTRATION

 

General Information

During the 2006 Legislative Session, Senate Bill 371 was passed, requiring Pharmacy Technicians to be registered in Maryland.  This legislation requires all non-registered personnel currently working behind the counter in the pharmacy area to be registered.  

Final Regulations for the Pharmacy Technician Registration were adopted January 28, 2008. Pharmacy technician candidates and pharmacy students may obtain applications below.

 The Code of Maryland Regulations, Delegated Pharmacy Acts  COMAR 10.34.34.03 defines the duties of pharmacy technicians as well as the duties of permit holders.

Who should register?

All non-registered personnel currently working behind the pharmacy counter and those who apply to work as a pharmacy technician in the future should register.  This includes individuals working in independent and retail pharmacies as well as pharmacies serving hospitals, nursing homes, assistant living, and other health facilities.  Registration Information COMAR 10.34.34.04  

To verify registered technicians, pharmacist or pharmacy establishments go to the Board's VERIFICATIONS Page.

State Criminal History Record Check  

All applicants must submit to State Criminal History Record Check.  Criminal checks are performed by the Department of Public Safety and Corrections Services, CJIS Central Repository.    Click Here  for complete Criminal background Instructions, including CJIS locations.
